Business mogul Kylie Jenner has surprisingly received support from PETA after she wore a flamboyant lion’s head dress at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show for Paris Fashion Week.
The slick black frock, which accentuated her curves made a powerful statement as the faux lion head kept fans intrigued.
But despite receiving backlash for the dress from fans who accused her of supporting animal cruelty, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said it was an innovative way to celebrate animals without causing harm.
Discussing the 25 year old’s dress further, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk praised Kylie, as well as models Naomi Campbell and Irina Shayk who wore the Daniel Roseberry faux dresses on the runway.
Sharing a statement with Daily Mail, Ingrid said: “These fabulously innovative three-dimensional animal heads show that where there’s a will, there’s a way — and Kylie, Naomi and Irina’s looks celebrate the beauty of wild animals and may be a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are torn apart to satisfy human egotism.”
In addition to this, the PETA president urged stars to stop using wool products, which the organisation says can lead to the abuse and injury of sheep, and silk, which can also result in silkworms being killed in many cases.
After seeing Kylie’s display on Instagram, fans were left disturbed and took to the comment section to air their annoyance over her fashionable display.
One follower wrote: “Promoting animal abuse is never okay!”
Another said: “This is what happens to people who become too rich and run out of things to say, do and wear.”
While a third disappointed fan penned: “This is wrong. Even my five year old can see it. My question is ‘what was she thinking?'”
The nod from PETA comes after the mother of two was previously criticised in the past by animal rights advocates for her use of fur clothing.
Last month, Kylie wore a winter outfit which appeared to include a fur trim, while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado.
Two years earlier the reality star was faced by activists when she was caught leaving a clothing store that sells fox fur.
Despite the uproar, Kylie was not wearing any fur at the time
