Russian MMA fighter Imam Asilderov hit his opponent so hard with a brutal first round KO punch that Igor Litoshik was left ‘saluting’ moments before hitting the canvas.
Asilderov only made his MMA debut during the Hardcore FC 33 fight event in June last year – winning his debut bout by split decision. Since then, he has fought three more times all resulting in first-round knockouts.
During the first round of his fight against Litoshik, at Hardcore FC 51 in Russia, the home fighter caught his opponent full in the face with a brutal punch. His Belarusian opponent first tried to punch back before putting his hand in the air giving a type of ‘salute’.
Sensing he could finish his opponent Asilderov ran towards the struggling Belarusian before forcing him down onto the canvas with one final blow.
Litoshik was left flat on his back and dazed by the knockout punch with the fight over.
A video clip of the brutal knockout was posted on Twitter by @Matysek88 with fans quick to comment about the salute.
@Slateski_Sucks commented: “Hitting someone so hard they think they won is a new level I strive for in striking.”
YouTuber @JonDenton also praised the winning punch from Asilderov. He added: “Ever get hit so hard you start celebrating?” Meanwhile @iAm_Abdou believed that Litoshik was actually saluting before he hit the canvas hard.
He added: “Did he salute him before he goes down?”
Fans believed that the knockout was similar to that in UFC 48 when Jamahal Hill dealt a brutal first round blow to Johnny Walker in their light heavyweight belt.
Walker first raised his hands and then fell back on the mat following a brutal right hand punch by American MMA star Hill just two minutes and 55 seconds into their bout.
@JoeGravel20 said: “Similar to Hill’s KO on Walker. Body rises up with a flailing hand. Punch connects on a similar part of the head.”
