Dick’s Sporting Goods Names David Young to Lead Its Retail Media Business


Dick’s Sporting Goods has a new executive to lead its retail media network.

David Young has joined Dick’s as a vice president to oversee the ad business. The retailer launched its retail media network, Dick’s Media Network, in 2022.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in managing media and ad networks, most recently with online marketplace Shipt. Since 2021, he ran Shipt’s ad business, called Shipt Media.

Prior to Shipt, Young spent nearly two years as senior director and digital marketing lead at grocery company Ahold Delhaize, overseeing its digital media center of excellence.

He also held various consumer packaged goods-related roles with media agencies FCB Global, Manifest, SapientNitro, Publicis Groupe, and TMP Directional Marketing.

In addition to Young, Dick’s has also hired Katie Haniffy as vp of media, overseeing media buying. Haniffy reports to chief marketing officer Emily Silver.

Haniffy had previously been head of media strategy and investment at PepsiCo, where she spent 18 years.
