Everyone is saying same about Melania Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral | US | News

Melania Trump has sparked comments about the outfit she wore to attend the 39th US President Jimmy Carter’s funeral today.

Multiple accounts had the same suggestion as to what she resembled at the event, sitting next to her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, and former President Barack Obama.

President Carter died aged 100 on December 29, and his state funeral took place in Washington. He will be buried on the grounds of his home in Georgia.

The former model wore a long black trench coat dress with a dramatic white collar.

Mrs Trump’s choice triggered plenty of reaction online, with one X user saying: “She dressed like the nun from the horror movies.”

A different person asked: “Why is Melania dressed as a nun?”

These were not the only people to make the comparison, with other users suggesting that she was “wearing a nun’s habit at end of row”, dressed as “The Flying Nun” and was “dragged out of bed, put on a nun’s outfit to sneer at Carter’s funeral”.

One account posted twice, once saying: “Melania Trump wearing the biggest collar I have ever seen. Was she channeling a nun or a cone of shame with that choice.”

It also said: “Did the nun store have a sale?”

President Trump, who will take office on January 20, had previously criticised President Carter’s record, and promised to use his second term to undo some of his policies.

This includes rolling back environmental protections, potentially reneging on a 1977 treaty ceding control of the Panama Canal back to its home country and dismantling the federal Department of Education, which Carter helped create in 1979, AP reports.

Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, Trump said that the handover of the Panama Canal was “a disgrace what took place”, and “Jimmy Carter gave it to them for one dollar.”

He added: “They laugh at us because they think we’re stupid. Well, we’re not stupid anymore.”
