Farage’s Reform to ‘take over’ Tories’ membership numbers | Politics | News

Reform UK has seen a recent surge in popularity, prompting warnings that they may be set to have more members than the Conservatives within a month.

According to the latest available figures, the gap in membership between the two parties appears to be just over 9,000.

Nigel Farage‘s party now has a live membership tracker, which at the time of writing is at a whopping 122,558, compared to the latest membership figures available for the Conservative Party – 131,680.

The Tories don’t publish their membership numbers as regularly as Reform, with the last figures dropping in November when Kemi Badenoch took over as leader.

Reform has been focusing on attracting younger members, with methods including reducing the party’s membership fee to just £10 for those 25 and under.

This has clearly worked as 1,000 young people joined the party in less than 48 hours last week, according to Farage, and a Reform spokesperson said they’re expecting to surpass Tory membership numbers in January, which is just nine days away.

Farage claimed his party has become incredibly popular with people who have felt disillusioned over the past 14 years of Tory “deception and failure”.

He told The Telegraph: “Reform has all the momentum in British politics, as our membership numbers show. We are growing at an unprecedented rate and will soon surpass the failed Tories, who are being abandoned after 14 years of deception and failure.”

Reform Chairman Zia Yusf shared his confidence in Farage becoming the next prime minister as Reform looks increasingly likely to contend with the Tories and Labour in the next general election.

He said: “History is being made as the century-long stranglehold the two old parties have had on Britain is finally broken. Nigel Farage will be the next prime minister, and will return Britain to greatness.”

Reform has also seen recent endorsements and cash injections from billionaires from both the UK and across the pond.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk recently showed his support for Farage and his party, saying he think they’ll win the next election and hinting he could be donating to them.

Reform Treasurer and billionaire Nick Candy also pledged to donate a “seven-figure” sum as he joined the party earlier this month. The three of them were seen at Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida shortly after.

The Conservative Party has been contacted for comment.
