New Year’s Day wind and rain warning
Wind gusts of up to 75mph could cause disruption across Wales on New Year’s Day.
The Met Office has imposed a yellow weather warning for “very strong winds” on Wednesday, along with a separate alert for heavy rain.
Up to 40mm (1.6in) is expected fairly widely, with up to 80mm (3.2in) across hills, the forecaster warned.
It said gusts of up to 65mph (105km/h) are likely around coasts and hills, with 60mph (100km/h) gusts likely fairly widely inland.
The rain warning is in place between 09:00 GMT and 21:00 and covers Anglesey, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Torfaen and Wrexham.
The wind warning, which is Wales-wide, is from 09:00 on Wednesday until 06:00 on Thursday.
