Vivek Ramaswamy to launch DOGEcast podcast with Elon Musk, to share regular cost-cutting updates | World News
Vivek Ramaswamy, who will co-lead Donald Trump‘s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with billionaire Elon Musk announced that he will be pausing his own weekly podcast to launch a new show with Elon called “DOGEcast,” in which they will give the nation “regular updates on their cost-cutting”.
President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Writing in a joint op-ed in Wall Street Journal, the two said that the department’s primary goal is to reduce the size and scope of the federal government. Musk and Ramaswamy plan to achieve this through significant regulatory cuts and workforce reductions.
“Our nation was founded on the basic idea that the people we elect run the government. That isn’t how America functions today,” the duo stated in their op-ed. They argued that the current system, with its numerous regulations and civil service protections, has become overly bureaucratic and costly.
Musk and Ramaswamy criticized the volume of “rules and regulations” created by unelected officials, calling it “antidemocratic.” They believe DOGE, which they described as a “lean team of small-government crusaders,” will help return power to elected representatives and reduce the influence of career bureaucrats.
In a recent Wall Street Journal piece, Musk announced plans to target government spending, calling bureaucracy an “existential threat” to US democracy. The billionaire specifically named public broadcasting and planned parenthood as examples of spending he would aim to cut.
He also stated his intention to work with a fellow businessman and former presidential candidate to reduce federal regulations and implement administrative cuts for cost savings. The pair believe these actions will address what they see as bureaucratic overreach.
