‘We could have been looking at casualties’


More than 45,000 households are without power due to Storm Darragh, which also brought down trees and caused localised flooding.

Trains and bus services, flights and ferries have also been affected.

An amber warning for wind – the second highest level of weather warning – was issued from 01:00 GMT until 15:00 GMT on Saturday.

A yellow wind warning is in place until 06:00 GMT on Sunday.
